Volleyball legend Gvozdenovic pays visit to Montenegro’s rising stars

Podgorica, Montenegro, August 2, 2017. Miodrag “Skale” Gvozdenovic, one of Montenegro’s Volleyball legends, recently paid a visit to the U19 men’s national team of the Balkan country during their training camp in the city of Niksic.

Gvozdenovic wished to the players of head coach Zoran Vukcevic the best of luck for the upcoming competitions, but also much more success and medals than he had himself as a player during his competitive days.

Miodrag Gvozdenovic was born on September 19, 1945 in Niksic. He started his career at the Sutjeska Volleyball club in his hometown before moving to Spartak SUBOTICA, with whom he claimed third place in the 1976 edition of the elite CEV Champions Cup.

He played more than 300 matches for the national team of the former Yugoslavia, winning bronze at the 1975 European Championship held in Belgrade. Gvozdenovic was one of the world’s greatest Volleyball players of his generation. As a result, in 2015 he was made an honorary citizen of Niksic.
