Partizan BEOGRAD win 41st edition of “Chajka” Memorial Tournament in Tetovo

Tetovo, Former Y.R. of Macedonia, December 18, 2017. For the first time in history, Partizan BEOGRAD claimed the top honours from the traditional Volleyball tournament “Branko Hadziiljoski – Chajka”. In Sunday’s final in Tetovo, the Serbian team stormed to a 3-0 victory (25-17, 25-18, 25-23) over Vardar SKOPJE.

At some stages of the match, Vardar were able to keep the score close, but they could not add another accolade to the eight trophies they have taken so far from the tournament organised to pay tribute to the man who helped establish Volleyball and sports in general in the Tetovo region.

Leshok settled for third place as they beat hosts University of Tetovo 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 29-27) in the ‘small final’.

Abdi Amir from Tetovo University was named the ‘Best Young Player’ of the tournament, while Luka Kostić from Vardar received the award for the ‘Most Promising Player’. Andrej Husejrovic from Partizan was named the best setter, and his teammate Vukasin Nedeljkovic took the award for the best player of the tournament.

As it was the case with all previous editions, the Macedonian Radio and Television, a long-term media partner of the Volleyball Federation of the Former Y.R. of Macedonia, broadcast the tournament nationwide.
