Bimal-Jedinstvo and Mladost retain league titles in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, May 3, 2019. After securing the national cup titles earlier this season, ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo and Mladost BRČKO further cemented their supremacy in domestic competitions by taking the top honours from the national league of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well.

This success accounts for the 13th straight title for ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo in the women’s competition. They needed two matches only to claim the championship series with ZOK GAČKO. They started with a 3-1 away victory (23-25, 25-15, 25-12, 25-9) before sealing the deal with a comprehensive 3-0 home win (25-14, 25-18, 26-24).

In the men’s competition, Mladost needed two matches only in the final series with OK KAKANJ, thus sealing their sixth straight title in the competition. However, both matches were close battles; Mladost first claimed a 3-2 away win coming back from two sets down (19-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-12). Mladost needed five sets in the second match as well, which they played at home and won 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-13).

ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo and Mladost BRČKO are the most successful clubs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the national league as well as in the national cup of the Balkan country.

ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo and Mladost are due to make their third and second appearance in the CEV Champions League, respectively, in the 2019/2020 edition of the European Cups. This past season, these teams reached the 8th Finals of the CEV Cup.
