Albania men’s national team working hard ahead of European League

Tirana, Albania, May 28, 2017. One week after their countrywomen started their respective programme, it was time for the Albanian men’s national team to convene as well and start working ahead of their campaign in the 2017 edition of the CEV Volleyball European League. Albania head coach Jani Melka and his staff are currently working with as many as 27 players, and from this group they will select those who will be representing Albania in the European League where the Balkan country will be making their second straight appearance after last year’s historic debut.

Quite many young players are willing to make their debut with the shirt of the national team. “We are trying to do our best, to make a step forward in this adventure, for us and for Albanian Volleyball as a whole,” said Melka. The team is currently training two times a day, combining Volleyball drills with workouts at the gym. “We hope to make some progress in this journey. The national league this year was very exciting and a lot of players showed a good performance, and hopefully they can bring that same quality to the national team as well,” Melka continued.

“Now we have more experience together and we want to play some good matches. The boys have a lot to learn and I am confident that step by step we are going to reach our goals,” Melka concluded. Albania will be playing the national teams of Sweden, Former Y.R. of Macedonia and Azerbaijan in Pool A. The second round robin tournament will take place in Tirana, so the Albanian national team players are working hard hoping to achieve some good results when playing on home soil.
